What is E4D?

The E4D system is a state-of-the-art digital scanner, virtual design center, and a milling unit capable of fabricating esthetic and strong porcelain restorations. This system provides us with the capability of delivering same day porcelain crowns, veneers, inlays and onlays to you using the latest in technology and clinically proven materials.

In contrast to conventional porcelain restorations, which often taken two full appointments to restore a single tooth, the E4D system enables us to scan your tooth, design the final restoration virtually, and mill your metal-free restoration with precision in one visit. This eliminates the need to wear a temporary for weeks and come back for another appointment. We can then adjust, characterize with color or polish your final restoration to final luster. Your permanent restoration is ready to be seated in your mouth in the same day or even with a single appointment. This eliminates the need to wear a temporary for weeks at a time and come back for another appointment to get the final restorations. back to top »

Why Choose Same-Day Dentistry?

Conventional methods of placing single crowns usually require two appointments. During the first one, the dentist will usually prepare the tooth, get the information necessary to make the final restoration (impression) and then put on a temporary restoration. A temporary that you might have to wear sometimes up to four weeks or more. During that time lots of things can happen to your tooth; it can shift position, it can become more sensitive, or unsupported areas can be more susceptible to breaking during this period.

With the new E4D Dentist System your dental professional can often provide you with a same day solution, providing you more convenience and eliminating the waiting period where only bad things can happen to your 'temporary' crown and tooth. Same-day dentistry is healthier dentistry. Ask us if E4D and Same Day Dentistry is right for you. back to top »

How E4D Works

There are three major components to the E4D Dentist system:

  • The intraoral digitizer, used for capturing the optical impression using laser technology.
  • The design center for customizing the restoration.
  • The milling center for fabricating the restoration.back to top »

Scanning the Tooth

IntraOral Camera

The IntraOral Digitizer (IOD) is a high-speed laser scanner that takes multiple images of your tooth and wraps them together to create a highly accurate 3D model. The IOD allows your dentist to take digital scans which replace conventional impression methods.

These digital scans use the latest laser technology which is not only extremely precise, but also as safe as the check-out scanner at the grocery store. Unlike conventional impressions that can be messy, unpleasant, and cumbersome, a digital scan is clean and fast.

The Scanning Process

The E4D Dentist system gives the clinician the ability to scan in the mouth or off a model or impression. The Intraoral Digitizer can capture photographs in the mouth and wrap them around a virtual 3D model. back to top »

Designing the New Tooth

Dentalogic Software

The E4D Design Center is where your tooth is created virtually. Powered by Dentalogic software, the Design Center creates a 3D model of your tooth from the images taken by the laser scanner.

Our dentists uses the software to create a restoration that will match the shape of the neighboring teeth. The software allows us to add grooves, cusps, and other anatomical details to create a tooth with a natural look and feel. back to top »
